Dr. Melisa Erdal
I earned my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, following a B.S. in Kinesiology from Penn State. I recently relocated to the New York area after working at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Outpatient Center in Charlestown, MA.
Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion
What guides the work.
My core values are: curiosity, compassion, integrity, and lifelong learning
My background is in both orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation. I have experience with post-operative procedures, various orthopedic conditions, stroke, autoimmune neurological diseases, and balance rehabilitation. I also have training in aquatic therapy. Throughout my professional career, I was honored to receive the Mary Mankin Prize from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, awarded to an individual who demonstrates strong potential as a clinical scholar. I was also selected for the Catherine Worthingham Fellows CSM Scholarship, a national APTA award recognizing academic excellence and dedication to the profession.
I am also passionate about evidence-based care. I have published systematic reviews in the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy and presented my research on transcranial magnetic stimulation and post-stroke balance at the national physical therapy conference (CSM). In the clinic, that translates to treatment plans built on current research and tailored to each person’s goals, with a focus on education so patients understand their condition and feel confident moving again.
I’m a physical therapist treating various orthopedic conditions and injuries.
One thing that I want to fix is that too many patients come in afraid to move. They’ve been told to rest, to avoid activity, or to just live with their pain. I want to change that by giving people an understanding of their condition and a plan they can trust, so they can get back to the things they love.
I enjoy treating orthopedic injuries, active adults and runners, and patients working through balance, gait challenges, and generalized deconditioning.
I like that Tribeca Physical Therapy is built around one-on-one care. That gives me the time to listen, assess thoroughly, and treat each person as an individual. I also appreciate a team culture that values positivity and collaboration, which makes it easy to keep growing as a clinician and deliver the best possible outcomes for patients.
Off the clock.
Life beyond the treatment table.
Outside of work, I enjoy running, road biking, playing tennis, cooking, and trying new coffee shops.
