Dr. Monica Gapud
I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. I attended the University of South Carolina, where I graduated with a B.S in Exercise Science in 2011. Following my undergraduate program, I participated and presented in a Public Health Leadership Program called MCHC-RISE UP with Kennedy Krieger and Johns Hopkins. Then, in 2020, I graduated from Azusa Pacific University in California with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
I have experience working with various orthopedic/general surgeries, oncology, stroke, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, chronic pain, complex medical diagnoses with comorbidities, and sports. I have worked in home health and inpatient acute care as well.
Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire
What guides the work.
My core values are: Ambition, creativity, courage, authenticity, accountability, and compassion
I enjoy treating the ankle complex, chronic pain, active adults, balance/fall risk prevention, and geriatrics. I specialize in chronic pain, post op orthopedic surgeries, and sports injuries. I love incorporating Pilates equipment and myofascial sling training in my rehab programs when applicable.
Something patients have to deal with that I want to fix is fear of movement and pain that decreases your quality of life is something I always want to address with my patients because you should be able to move your body and enjoy what it does for you!
I love working at Tribeca Physical Therapy because it is a continuous learning environment that is collaborative, inclusive, and overall fun to work in. I appreciate the views, the option to use the Pilates reformer/chair, and the beautiful open space.
Off the clock.
Life beyond the treatment table.
What I enjoy doing when I am not working is trying new food, live music, going to the movies, archery, socializing, traveling, and practically anything that keeps me active or creative!
