DR. MONICA SALIU

DR. MONICA SALIU

PT
Co-founder & Clinical Director

My journey into the world of physical therapy and wellness began in my hometown of Craiova, Dolj, located in the south of Romania. Growing up in a place known for its rich culture, art, music, and the warmth of its people, I was deeply inspired by the sense of community and care that surrounded me.

From an early age, I was a competitive volleyball player, and it was through this experience that my passion for sports and the medical field was ignited. The discipline, teamwork, and dedication required in sports naturally led me to explore how the body works and how it can be nurtured to perform at its best. This passion grew stronger as I saw the impact that proper care and training could have on both preventing injuries and enhancing athletic performance.

I completed my undergraduate studies in Kinetotherapy at the University of Craiova in 2001. My desire to deepen my knowledge and skills brought me to New York, where I earned my graduate degree from Dominican University in 2015.

My education and training have equipped me with a diverse set of specialties, including Pelvic Health, Prenatal/Postpartum Care, Pelvic Health Sexuality Coaching and Counseling, Office Ergonomic Evaluation, Kinesiotaping, and both Stott and Balanced Body Pilates. I’m also a trained Foundation Training Practitioner, which I incorporate into my everyday patient care.

My core values are: Integrity, compassion, excellence, balance, and collaboration. I am committed to delivering compassionate care, driven by integrity and a dedication to excellence. I believe in the importance of continuous learning and collaboration, not only to enhance my skills but also to ensure that I am providing the best possible care for my patients. My core values guide my approach to therapy, as I strive to make a positive difference in the lives of those I work with, one day at a time.

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”– Mahatma Gandhi. This belief fuels my passion for continuous growth, both personally and professionally.

As a founder and Clinical Director, I am dedicated to building a cohesive team that delivers excellence in patient care and fosters a collaborative environment for continuous growth and improvement.

My career choice is deeply rooted in my passion for improving the lives of others. The human body is incredibly resilient, but it also requires care, understanding, and support to function at its best. I chose this path because I believe in the power of movement and the impact it has on our overall well-being. Helping my patients regain control, strength, and confidence in their bodies is my greatest reward. If you’re suffering and trying to navigate an edometriosis diagnosis, having challenges achieving healthy sexual function, looking for a holistic approach to chronic pain, or you’re struggling with peri and menopause symptoms, I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your journey toward better health and wellness.

PATIENT TESTIMONIALS

“Having lived in different cities around the world. I can truly say that Tribeca Physical Therapy provides world-class physical therapy service. Not only are they very skilled, they are also welcoming. You automatically feel like part of their community as soon as you step in the door. I saw Monica for women’s health and postpartum rehab following my emergency c-section. This included her pelvic floor education and programs. She is beyond talented when it comes to this topic. I learned so much about how to optimize pelvic floor function and scar tissue health. It is so hard to find a talented women’s health physio that also does internal work. See her has been an integral part of my postpartum recovery. Thanks to the whole team!”

Katelyn Faison

“I found Tribeca Physical Therapy after having suffered immense lower back pain caused by diastis recti (post-childbirth). Monica has been such a lifesaver; she is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to women’s bodies. I looked forward to every appointment because I always felt 100 times better when I left. She made things fun and entertaining by adding a mixture of Pilates, stretching, weights, etc. It never got boring, and the best part is that she rectified the problem! I can’t recommend Monica enough; she truly cares about her patients, and she is a master of her craft!”

Jocelyne Woodhouse

“Dr. Monica is caring, compassionate, and extremely gifted, especially with people who have chronic, ongoing pain. Attending physical therapy with her has been transformational; at 53, I am in better shape and move with more ease than I did a decade ago.”
